What part of Nelson to stay in?
There are two main options for where you stay in Nelson. You can decide to stay in the city
centre, or on Wakefield Quay/Port Hills, overlooking the sea. With the city centre option,
everything you need is in easy walking distance and you are closer to the venues. With the latter
option, you get a beautiful view of the sea but the city centre is a 10-15 minute walk away.
Word of advice
Nelson is the name of the city, but it also refers to the surrounding region. Be careful to make
sure your accommodation in definitely in Nelson city itself, or else you may find yourself quite
some way from the city. This is especially the case with internet searches for 'Nelson
accommodation'.
Getting around
There is no reliable public transport in Nelson. Nelson does have a 24 hour taxi service.
